JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Basics 1. To provide a professional nursing service and the highest standard of clinical sanitation for the medical facility on board.
2. To receive Guests and Crew in a professional, compassionate, and non-discriminatory manner, attend to first aid where required, maintain the hospital and associated areas in a clinical condition, and carry out medical duties as required by the Ship's Doctor.
Experience Required - Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) and all other certification and documentation in force at the time of your contract.

- Visas and entry documentation for countries and regions in which the ship will operate.

- Fluent in oral and written English, the official working language.

- Ability to communicate in any other major languages, depending on the ship's itinerary, is considered a major advantage.

- Validated current documentation certifying health and fitness as required by Panama Flag regulations.

- University (academic) Degree in Nursing.

- Hold current full registration and a license to practice, with at least three years of post-graduate/post-registration experience.

ResponsibilitiesAs Ship's Nurse, you are required to:

1. Familiarize yourself with the Deck Plan and Fire Plan of the ship to which you are assigned.

2. Open and close the hospital at times as per the Standard Procedures (SP).

3. Ensure the sanitation standards of the entire medical facility as per the related SP.

4. Be available to provide standard and emergency medical assistance, in the Medical Center and other ship's locations, for guests and crew, 24 hours a day, according to schedule.

5. When the ship is in port, providing medical assistance outside of the ship, including terminals, is not allowed, except as per the Company's specific agreements for particular destinations.

6. Maintain an accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies using the Medical Inventory System (MMS).

7. Regularly update the list of medicines and medical supplies to ensure they have not reached or exceeded their expiry dates.

8. Dispose of bio-hazardous waste and bio-medical sharps in appropriate disposal containers.

9. Perform public health activities as specified in MSC Standard Procedures:

- Crew arrival record

- Hand check control of all food handlers

- Bioluminometer test

- 4-point water integrity test and bunkered water test

- First Aid and Eye Wash stations check

10. Clean and maintain all medical and surgical equipment and instruments in a clinically sterilized condition and report in the specific log.

11. Check vaccine and drug refrigerators every 4 hours during operation.

12. Sort reusable items into protective and clearly marked bags for washing in the laundry (sheets, pillowcases, etc.), and advise the Laundry Manager that these items are arriving.
